This week Mark Wallace talks about on camera flash. There are ways that we can modify the on-camera flash to control our lighting. We can bounce our flash from ceilings, walls, or off of reflectors and Mark will show us how. this outdoor shooting technique does not work on my D90. If i try to shoot on manual mode, increasing shutter speed will cause the whole picture underexposed not just the? ambient light, i also set my flash to manual mode. Am i missing something???
What is his? lens in both cameras? canon and nikon?
Because what he’s focusing on is? quite close
DoF gets shallower the closer you are to the subject.
I have a question. He says he is at f16 then how the hell does he get that great depth of field? I’m an amateur and I feel like I’m missing something here XD Same goes with Bryan. He shoots at apertures around f11 but still gets great? DOF. I don’t understand lol
the light picks up the colour? how dumb are you? white light has full spectrum when it hits a wall that looks green to the eye, it? is because it absorbs all colours and reflects the green in the light only. nothing is coloured it only has the ability to reflect colour that is in the light hitting it. shine a red light on the green wall and it will be black
Thanks Mr Mark Wallace ?
Best tutorial in youtube hands down, hey Mark i have a question,i am starting on flash photography and bit struggling, what? is the best technique if shooting with in-cam flash and nothing to bounce to?
Thanks a lot.? This was really good. I enjoyed it here in Melbourne, Australia.
You? are a awesome teacher…
12:18. Straight out of? the camera I see potential editorial shot. :p
What if i dont hv? the reflector. And the wall is coloured. should i use the flash gel?
she? is bored
Sam looks better with that short emo haircut ?
If you shot Sam with a plastic throw away camera it would look good. Theres only one girl thats hot enough to be a model here in Scotland and she’s always booked up!? If FHM had an evil twin for ugly women its top 100 would be shot here.
What was Sams number again….
Mark, which flash setting? are you using on the Nikon? iTTL, iTTL/BL, or M? Thanks.
Great video but can you? show the comparisons at the end next time please? You showed them for the outdoor ones but not the indoor.
TY TY TY TY SO MUCH! This really helped me? understand my 5D Mark 2 and my speedlite 430 ex 2 that I bought with it. I actually grasp the idea of lighting.
Yes, I should have said Shutter Priority mode.? Thanks for the catch.
The flash compensation button will allow you to leave the background at the same level and adjust the power of the? flash – but to leave the flash at a consistent power and adjust the ambient light you have to shoot in manual mode. On a Nikon flash exposure compensation adjusts the flash output and leaves the ambient light alone but exposure compensation is a global change and effects flash *and* ambient light. Do some experiments with both and you’ll see the difference.
correction: front dial is compensation? back is mode
In the Nikon can’t you just use the flash compensation button and adjust level with back dial ? On the D90 it’s the same button that pops the? built in flash.
In Episode 43 towards the end, the example of using a disc reflector to bounce the light off a Nikon camera/SB900 Flash.
Mark specifies using Aperture priority mood with a reading of 60th? of a second.
It is not clear to me whether Mark meant using shutter priority instead.
Thanks for another great informative? video. It would have been nice if the model cracked a smile or two
Mark, Keep up the fine? work. I find your videos helpful and useful. I have enjoyed all your videos.
